Description
Writer: Kerri Grant
Date: June 4, 2017
Synopsis: "Doc tries to help the toy of a girl with cancer."
In the five years that Doc Mcstuffins has been on, the show has managed to tackle plenty of complex themes in ways that resonate with everyone. In honor of Cancer Survivor Day, today we look at the episode "Hannah The Brave", and how this idea holds true. The plot involves a girl named Audrey undergoing chemotherapy. However, Hannah (her doll) accidentally gets gum in her hair, and can't come with her to the appointment. Doc tries different methods to help Hannah out, eventually coming to the decision to cut her hair. The episode tackles a theme that's usually overlooked, sacrificing something of yours for the health of others. Hannah is shown to take a bit of pride in her appearance, but only because she wants to keep Audrey's love. That's what makes her sympathetic, the fact that she has this sense of pride balanced out with her extreme devotion to Hannah, which is very impressive. The moral, as mentioned, is about sacrificing something personal for your health and other people's health. With how everything is set up, I call this quite an emotionally, well done episode.
Side Note: Robin Roberts voices Hannah. Now that's perfect casting.
