Well, this was a long time coming. Elena Of Avalor season 2 is finally here, and with a premiere that's packed with good. Let's see why. This episode has Elena preparing for an important test, when she freezes up with images of Victor and Carla. Speaking of which, they're tasked by Shuriki to find the Jewel of Maru from the Tibetmul pyramids on Dia De Los Muertos. Elena and Mateo go to stop them with the help of a spirit named Amalay (Genesis Rodriguez). Of course, Victor and Carla make this difficult. Oh my! This is really packed with excitement and suspense, but at its core, it tells a valuable story on self sacrifice. Elena is still trying to come to terms with being a good ruler and making her parents proud. However, it's taken a step further. She's always been shown to have a bit of self depreciation complex when things could potentially go wrong, which clouds her judgement so much that she focuses more on the idea of success than with saving Avalor. However, it works given that she is still shown to care for others, and simply let her emotions take over. What really sells it is the climax. In a moment of despair, Elena's parents (Andrea Navedo & Nestor Carbonell) come into to encourage. They encourage her to focus on the right decisions, and channel her emotions for the sake of others. In essence, the message is about how being a good ruler means acting on the love of others, which involves channeling your emotions positively. I call this s great way to start season 2.
